What Dose is
What does Dose do?
Dose is a phone app for pool service techs to log water chemistry at the pool — readings, the exact chemical doses to add, and a photo — with everything syncing back to Jobber. The office gets a dashboard of every pool, customer-ready service reports, and exports for health-department audits.
Do I need Jobber to use Dose?
Yes. Dose builds each tech’s daily route from your Jobber schedule and writes readings back to your Jobber jobs. There is no standalone mode — if you don’t use Jobber, Dose won’t have anything to work from.
Does Dose replace Jobber?
No. Jobber stays your system of record for scheduling, customers, quotes, and invoicing. Dose only adds the piece Jobber doesn’t do in the field: chemical logging on your techs’ phones. Nothing in Dose duplicates a Jobber feature.
Who is Dose for?
Pool service companies in the United States that run their business on Jobber — typically one to ten techs, each servicing 60 to 90 pools a week. Readings are in °F, gallons, ounces and pounds, and all prices are in USD.
Is Dose made by Jobber?
No. Dose is built by Tiny Empire Consulting Inc. and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Jobber. It connects to Jobber through Jobber’s public developer platform, the same way other marketplace apps do.
Getting started
Setup and sign-in
How do I connect Dose to Jobber?
Install Dose from the Jobber App Marketplace, approve the access it asks for, and create your admin account on the welcome page that opens. Your upcoming visits appear within about a minute, with a pool created for each Jobber property. Connect as a Jobber admin so the permissions cover your whole team.
Do my techs need to download an app?
No app store download. Dose runs in any modern phone browser and can be added to the home screen, where it opens full-screen like a native app. It works on iPhone and Android.
How do techs sign in?
You invite each tech by email from Settings in the office dashboard. They get a sign-in link — no password to create or remember. Admins sign in to the dashboard with email, password, and your company code.
Is there a limit on users?
No. Every plan, including Free, allows unlimited techs and admins. Dose bills by pool visits, never by seat, so adding a person to your team never changes your bill.
What do I need to set up for each pool?
Just the volume. Dosing amounts depend on gallons, so the first time a tech opens a pool they enter its shape and dimensions (Dose computes the gallons) or type the gallons directly. Surface, sanitizer type, and pool-or-spa are optional but make dosing and water-balance results more accurate. It takes about 30 seconds and you only do it once per pool.

How the two work together
What does Dose read from my Jobber account?
Scheduled visits and who they’re assigned to, properties (address and location), client names so techs know whose pool they’re at, and your team roster. That’s the list. Dose never reads invoices, payments, quotes, expenses, time entries, or your client communication history.
What does Dose write back to Jobber?
One note per visit on the Jobber job, tagged [Dose], with the readings, water balance, chemicals added, and the tech’s first name. Repeat syncs update that same note instead of adding duplicates. If you turn on custom fields, the job also carries the latest FC, pH, and LSI in fields Dose creates and owns.
Can I turn writeback off?
Yes. Job notes are on by default and can be switched off per company from the office dashboard. Custom fields are off by default and only appear if you opt in. Dose never edits notes or fields it didn’t create, and it never marks a Jobber visit complete.
Which Jobber permissions does Dose ask for?
The narrowest set that covers the list above: reading your schedule, properties, clients, and team, and writing job notes and its own custom fields. If you connected before writeback was available, the dashboard will ask you to reconnect once to grant the write permissions.
What happens if I disconnect Dose from Jobber?
Syncing pauses and the office dashboard shows a reconnect banner. Techs can keep logging readings offline; they sync when you reconnect. Reconnecting the same Jobber account picks up where you left off — nothing is deleted on disconnect.
What if I uninstall Dose entirely?
Dose emails your admin a CSV export of your pools, visits, readings, chemical additions, and service reports within 24 hours, then deletes your data on a 30-day schedule, including photos and your encrypted Jobber tokens. Reinstall inside that window and you can resume.

Logging at the pool
Does it work without cell signal?
Yes. Today’s route is cached on the phone before the tech leaves the shop, readings logged offline queue on the device, and everything replays automatically when the signal comes back. If the same visit gets logged twice while offline, the second one is flagged for review rather than silently dropped.
How does test-strip scanning work?
The tech photographs the strip next to its bottle chart and AI reads the values into the reading tiles. Each value comes with a confidence score; anything the AI isn’t sure about is left blank for manual entry instead of guessed. The tech always confirms or edits before saving, and scanning is optional — typing the numbers works just as well.
Can techs attach photos?
One photo per reading in the current version, uploaded when the phone is online. Photos are resized on the phone and have location metadata stripped before upload unless you turn on compliance mode.
What do the colored reading tiles mean?
Green means the value is in range for that pool and nothing needs adding. Amber means Dose will recommend a dose or flag it as worth addressing. Red means it will raise a critical advisory, such as free chlorine far below the safe minimum. The colors come from the same math as the dosing, so the tiles and the recommendation always agree.
Which chemistry parameters does Dose track?
Free chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, salt (for saltwater pools), and water temperature. Combined chlorine is recorded when entered but not acted on in this version.

Dosing and water balance
How does Dose decide what to add?
It runs pure-math dosing from the reading and the pool’s volume, in standard service order: alkalinity, then pH, calcium, chlorine, stabilizer, and salt, with each step accounting for the previous one. Targets follow the ranges used by experienced pool pros, with free chlorine tied to the cyanuric acid level. Amounts are shown in ounces with pounds or gallons alongside.
Does it handle saltwater pools, vinyl, fiberglass, and spas?
Yes. Targets change by surface (plaster, vinyl, fiberglass), sanitizer (traditional chlorine or salt cell), and pool versus spa. Saltwater pools get their own chlorine, pH, and salt targets, and Dose swaps out chemicals that would damage a salt cell or plaster. Indoor pools aren’t supported in this version.
Can I set my own target ranges?
Yes. Admins can set company-wide targets in Settings and override them for an individual pool from its page in the dashboard. Leave a value blank to inherit the default. The tiles, doses, and advisories all follow whatever ranges are in effect for that pool.
What is the LSI number?
The Langelier Saturation Index, a water-balance score calculated from pH, temperature, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and cyanuric acid. Near zero is balanced; strongly positive water tends to form scale and strongly negative water is corrosive to plaster and equipment. Dose computes it on every reading and flags it when it’s outside the safe band.
Will it tell me to shock or drain a pool?
It will tell you when the water needs it — for example a high cyanuric acid or calcium reading produces a partial-drain advisory with the percentage of water to replace, and very low chlorine gets a critical warning. Dose doesn’t compute multi-day treatments like a full shock-and-hold; those stay with the tech’s judgment and the product label.
The office
Dashboard, reports, and exports
What does the office see?
A dashboard with every pool, its latest readings and water balance, today’s scheduled stop, and any out-of-range flags, plus a detail page per pool with its reading history. Admins also manage team invites, dosing targets, Jobber writeback settings, and billing there.
Can I send customers a report?
Yes. From the dashboard the office can send a branded service report for any visit — readings, water balance, chemicals added, and photo — to the customer email you’ve confirmed for that pool. Dose suggests the email from Jobber but only stores it once an admin confirms it.
Can I export my data?
Yes, any time. Each pool’s page exports its reading history as CSV for a date range, formatted for a health-department audit or your own records. If you ever leave, your full history is exported to you before anything is deleted. PDF export is planned but not in this version.
Billing

How much does Dose cost?
Free covers 50 visits a month with no card required. Pro is $29 a month for 200 visits and Crew is $99 a month for 1,000, each with $0.09 per extra visit. Unlimited techs and admins on every plan. Full details are on the pricing page.
What counts as a visit?
A Jobber visit that Dose did real work on: a reading logged, a strip scanned, a report sent, a water-balance result stored, or the visit included in an export. Each Jobber visit only ever counts once, no matter how many of those happen on it or how many readings a tech logs at that stop.
What happens when the Free plan runs out?
The 51st visit in a month is blocked until the first of the next month or an upgrade — nothing is silently billed. Pro and Crew keep going past their included visits at $0.09 each. The counter resets on the first of each month in your company’s local time zone.
How do I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel?
From Billing in the office dashboard. Payments go through Stripe; Dose never sees or stores your card number. Cancel at any time — your data stays available on the Free plan’s limits, and you can request a full export or deletion whenever you like.
Your data
Privacy and security
Where is my data stored and who can see it?
In Dose’s own database, isolated per company so no other customer can ever see your pools or readings. Your Jobber connection tokens are encrypted at rest, connections are encrypted in transit, and passwords are stored only as secure hashes. Full details are in the privacy policy.
What happens to test-strip photos?
A scan is sent to an AI vision provider to read the values and is not used for anything else, including training. Photos attached to readings are stored in private cloud storage with time-limited links and are deleted with the rest of your data if you leave.
Can I delete my company’s data?
Yes. An admin can request deletion from the dashboard settings. There’s a short confirmation window, then Dose exports your data to you and permanently deletes it, including photos and Jobber tokens.
